Gentaro Ishizuka "Pipeline Alaska"

Aoyama Book Center, Aoyama
Finished

Artists

Gentaro Ishizuka
The oil fields of the Arctic Ocean on Alaska's coast boast North America's largest oil reserve. Oil extracted from these fields are carried from Prudhoe Bay that is frozen for three quarters of the year to Valdez, the northernmost ice-free port, by a pipeline that cuts through Alaska. Over three years, this artist photographed the world's second longest manmade structure, which stretches 1,280km. As evidenced in the words "You went too far to north," the scenes that he saw were beauty of the extreme north and at the same time the ultimate ending. "Several Blue" and "Several White", works from this artist's popular exhibition "Trans Alaska Pipeline" held at the Aoyama Spiral Building will be on display.
