"Making Sock Monkey with Red Heel Socks" Workshop

IID Gallery
Finished
In the midst of the world depression in the early 20th century, mothers in Illinois started crafting sock animals for their children out of commonly worn work socks with red heels. The story spread all over in the U.S., and the sock manufacturer started to include the directions for making sock monkeys with every pair of red heel socks.

This workshop introduces America's long-loved sock monkeys.
