In 1930, an exhibition of Japanese art so called "Rome Exhibition" was organized by the Italian government at Palazzo Nazionale delle Esposizioni. Plutocrat Kishichiro Okura, who just succeeded the family business provided enormous funding for this exhibition. Also, the exhibition space was created by carpenters specialized in temple construction to add Japanese sensibility to the entire atmosphere.
