Artists

Achille Castiglioni
Achille Castiglioni led the Italian design world with his unique, innovative approaches to furniture, lighting, urban planning and many other fields. His Milan studio, the base for most of his creative activities, was carefully conserved after his death and is now open to the public as a museum. This exhibition features a reconstruction of his workplace and studio using actual objects that he designed, as well as photo panels and videos.
The studio has been recreated as an abstract space by drawing lines on the floor that show its floor plan, recalling the stage direction and layout of Lars von Trier's film Dogville. The interior of Castiglioni's studio is illustrated through large photo panels, and various products and elements that symbolize his design philosophy, such as mirrors and the Milan castle visible from the window, are also on display. In addition, video interviews with Castiglione and his wife and other footage documenting his public speeches and lectures are also on view, providing a key to understanding the essence of his products.
