Fossil fuels are being wrangled out of the earth and squandered. Even now the pace of this expenditure is increasing with no corresponding increment in production of these energy sources. Voices call stridently for a curtailment in carbon dioxide emissions, while mammonism and money worship remain rampant.
With these issues in mind, an experimental exhibition was held at Gallery O2 in Omori in June 2008 with the intention of sincerely repaying this "loan" from the earth: a furtive, minuscule effort, but an effort nonetheless to fix and stabilize our reliance on plant carbon. The capacity of a single plant for photosynthesis, although small, is still a transformation of carbon dioxide from gas to a solid state. Are we ignoring the humble work on a small scale of these familiar plants that surround us in the name of a problem of global proportions?
This "eco sapience" airtight balloon wants to breathe all by itself, shutting within it several men and women. Monopolizing the oxygen inside this balloon, and producing less carbon dioxide than anyone else.
