Ogino makes work in an effort to rouse and animate the world around him through colors and shapes. His finely drawn works have little extraneity in them, and the trace of his implements is often even invisible. Similarly, his compositions have a minimalist touch about them. In order to calibrate the exact color balance on the surface of his canvases, he often makes several drafts.
In an effort to eliminate any preconceptions on the viewer's part, he also names his canvases using only their measurements and dimensions. Transcending background and foreground, figuration and abstraction, Ogino seems to escape the flat confines of his two-dimensional frameworks.
