"Celebration Costumes: Rococo, French Imperial Style" Exhibition

Meguro Museum of Art
Finished
18th century French Rococo culture has been enjoying a spate of renewed attention in recent years. On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Marie Antoinette (1755-1793), a movie depicting her imperial lifestyle was released, and the restoration of the Hall of Mirrors inside the château of Versailles was widely broadcasted. This exhibition showcases Rococo-style costumes which symbolize the spirit of imperial celebration. Recreations of garments worn at enthronement ceremonies and other imperial costumes are on display.
