"Revolution and Fashion: Russian Exile, Blood Vessel of Beauty" Exhibition

Tama Art University Museum
Finished
This exhibition presents clothes, accessories and photographs that Russia's representative fashion historian Alexander Vasiliev has collected for over 30 years. The pieces in his collection reflect the vicissitudes of Russian aristocratic society and their influence on the international fashion world.

Fashion history offers a new reading of the Russian Revolution, which took place in the early 20th century. From the collection of Vasiliev, this exhibition showcases 200 dresses, bags, shoes and photographs from the Imperial period and the post emancipation period, which are being presented for the first time in Japan. These works reveal the underexposed side of Russian history. After decades of silence since the revolution, the beauty of Russian aristocratic fashion is now again gaining the attention of the art scene.
