Lisette Savaria
The Embassy of Canada presents an exhibition featuring about 35 porcelain artworks and paintings by Lisette Savaria.

An active professional for forty years, Lisette Savaria constantly strives for artistic excellence in porcelains as well as in paintings. Like Japanese ikebana, Savaria's work pursues the relationship between man, earth and sky. This triad is at the heart of her discourse, which takes place on ecological, philosophical, historical and aesthetic levels. These entangled and complementary aspects embed her works with delicacy and elegance.

Light, space, and movement are essential elements in Savaria's artistic pursuits and are reflected in her choice of materials: porcelain, paper clay, glass and bronze.

Sometimes inspired by wide open spaces she has visited or the Laurentian countryside surrounding her home while other times led by a personal spiritual quest, Savaria always seeks to push the conceptual and technical limits of her craft. Looking at the totality of her work, one sees both conceptual and technical evolution in both practices. The two mingle with and enrich each other even as they underscore the artist's pivotal ideas.

This exhibition presents paintings, vases, bowls, and reliefs – unique and beautiful works created between 1968 and 2010. Some of them are based on experiences in Japan during a trip back in 1995. Several types of porcelains are included: sculpted, engraved, painted, and porcelains with window-like openings.
