Yoshitaka Hyodo "Shin Kongoji Haruna and Sisters"

Makii Masaru Fine Arts

Yoshitaka Hyodo
Both an extreme lyricism and a base eroticism coexist in Hyodo's works. This mix of poetry and vulgarity can be interpreted as a straightforward depiction of the contradictory state of male desire. When the object that satisfies that desire ceases to be a female body and turns instead into a love doll, however, male desire turns in on itself, sealing off the violence of that desire.
