A team composed of researchers and experts from Kanazawa University, the Santa Croce Church in Florence and the National Institute for Restoration have been working on a project to restore the frescoes in the Basilica di Santa Croce, Florence over the last five years. This is the first time that advanced technologies are being used to examine the condition of these artworks, and the results were nothing short of a new interpretation of these images in the context of previous art historical studies. This symposium introduces visitors to the details of the project and the academic findings that emerged as a result.
