Masaya Kaburagi "Illusion of Slender Wings"

Nerima Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Masaya Kaburagi
Masaya Kaburagi (b. 1938) began working for a puppet theater troupe while still a student in the oil painting department of Tama Art University, also making animations and illustrations for picture books alongside his career as a painter. Although he worked mostly with oil paint in the beginning, Kaburagi came to appreciate the value of graphite pencil as a medium and eventually developed an austere, almost monochrome style.

On display are some 50 works chosen from a recent batch of acquisitions that trace the arc of Kaburagi's career.
