"Shoki-imari: The Birth of Japanese Porcelain" Exhibition

Toguri Museum of Art
Finished
The birth of Japanese porcelain is said to date back to the Bunroku and Keicho era under Hideyoshi Toyotomi (1592ー98), who brought specimens of Korean pottery back with him to Japan. This exhibition introduces visitors to early examples of Imari ware from the first half of the 17th century, in addition to a display of porcelain fragments unearthed from the sites of former kilns.
