Kiyoo Kawamura Exhibition

Meguro Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Kiyoo Kawamura
Kiyoo Kawamura (1852-1934) was one of the earliest Japanese painters to have studied abroad starting in the Meiji era. After studying western painting in America and Venice, he created works dealing with historical and narrative themes that blended Western techniques with Japanese research and materials, such as silk canvases and gold leaf. Another exhibition of his work with a different perspective will be held at the Edo Tokyo Museum this autumn.
