Shozo Araki
Araki, who describes his works as “portraits”, seems to be emphasizing the self-contained aspect of his creative practice. Yet he admits that he wants viewers to “feel something”. Just like how music has the power to strike an emotional chord with people even without using lyrics as a medium, Araki’s works, executed using the “bare minimum”, unravel into multiple narratives by resonating with the emotional state of those who view them.
