The “Flower” series is Saki Nakamura’s the first attempt at the motif. On display are photographs of cut flowers and bulbs. Until now Nakamura has mainly photographed male nudes, but was inspired to reexamine flowers with a similar approach as the one she took with her previous subject matter. Nakamura brings out the shapes and colors of the flowers using a single-reflex lens, experimenting with different angles and distances, strobe and natural lighting, and digital coloring converted from monochrome film.
