“The Cloud of the Airplane”

Ghibli Museum, Mitaka
Finished

Artists

Hayao Miyazaki
“The Cloud of the Airplane” the theme song to Hayao Miyazaki’s latest work “The Wind Rises” is taken from the debut album of Yumi Matsutoya (Yuming), released 40 years ago in 1973. Miyazaki encountered this song just after he had graduated from university and was working on various animation projects for theatre and TV. Upon hearing the son he replayed it again and again until the cassette tape became broken. Now 40 years on Miyazaki offers a present of 18 drawings to commemorate the work of Yuming, which may be appreciated at the museum for a limited period.
