Masaki Hirano “After the Fact”

Maruki Gallery for the Hiroshima Panels
Finished

Artists

Masaki Hirano
We live in an age that requires us to radically reconsider our relationship with money. The 21st century has already seen the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy, an increasingly skewed distribution of global wealth, global warming, and other crises, demonstrating that old systems cannot be fixed piecemeal and political chicanery accomplishes nothing. The problems of today are intricately linked to money and our financial systems and will surely only worsen if ignored. Masaki Hirano’s photographs of war-torn regions around the world and currencies used during Japan’s imperialist age provoke thought about the global and financial turmoil.
