Chiaki Maki “Maki Textile Studio”

With a studio in the foothills of the Himalayas near the sacred area of Rishikesh Chiaki Maki continues in her efforts of fabric production. With pashmina and yak wool from the Northern Ladakh, to the silk of the Western Assam, along with the wool of the Himalayan sheep, she uses yarn from across the region to open up the possibilities of a new woven form. In this exhibition Maki presents a range of scarfs and mufflers along with a clothing collection created from handwoven fabric combining hemp and tassar silk.
