Artists

Richard Misrach
Richard Misrach photographs animal corpses abandoned in Nevada deserts damaged by humans. These animals are casual victims caught in conflicts between people and nature. They have died forced, premature deaths. Misrach’s photos are assured works that produce a clear aesthetic of emotion restrained to the extreme— perhaps this aesthetic is what is born out of these “forced deaths.” Viewed as a series, these photographs somehow point towards a hearting resolve for rebirth. Acutely sensitive to human crises since 1987, Misrach questions the paths our choices are leading us down as these crises deepen.
