These new works by Nihonga painter Sawato Fukui depict places encountered while traveling in Europe, from fantastical scenes of towns at night to small alleyways and beautiful landscapes. The light and color evoked by memories of journeys to these places, reflected by the artist’s imagination, unfold in brilliant pastel colors on the canvas.
