Artists

Ryo Kameyama
Ryo Kameyama is an independent photographer who has taken his camera to some of the most extreme scenes of war and disaster around the world, drawing a particular focus upon the everyday life that must continue in the face of such crisis and the ordinary people who are caught up in conflict. Through his diverse depictions of life and death he reaches beyond stereotypes and assumptions to capture a particular reality of war and his “Afrika War Journal”, depicting conflicts in Africa over a 8 year period, was the recipient of the 32nd Domonken Award in 2013. This exhibition features works documenting young people on Hachijo Island, revealing the light and dark of the world and its complex weave of spirit and injustice.
