Leo Lionni
Renowned for the picture book “Swimmy” Leo Lionni(1910-1999) grew up in the Netherlands, built his career as a graphic designer in Italy and moved to the USA in 1939 where he took his first steps into the world of picture books. Debuting with “Little Blue and Little Yellow” and following with such loved titles as “Frederick” and “Inch by Inch”, Lionni produced numerous stories of small characters filled with a special warmth combining watercolor, oil paint and collage in a range of techniques. This exhibition features 100 examples of his original illustrations along with paintings and sculptures.
