Airi Kuroda “Everyday Eyeglasses”

Finished

Artists

Airi Kuroda
Unidentifiable people and groups appear in Airi Kuroda’s paintings. With vigorous brushwork and a deliberate, time-intensive process of pen drawing, her “illustrated universes” are symbioses of painting and drawing created through pleasurable tempos of movement. In her first solo show in Japan, Kuroda presents scenes of everyday life envisioned through her own filter. The characters in her works often wear eyeglasses, ironically signaling personal introspection and expressing views on what it means to be seen while seeing. Around 35 major works of various sizes, including new drawings, are on display and for sale.
