Ikuko Sakurai
From 1957 at the age of 3 years old Ikuko Sakurai continued to draw and paint with a passion for 10 years, and over a century onwards these works have been rediscovered. After joining Fuji TV as an announcer she made her name in series such as “Walk to Canossa” and “Ugo Ugo Ruga”. As a girl growing up in the rapidly developing economy of Japan Sakurai stole away into her imaginative world creating bold, colorful compositions which even won her a national competition, but at the age of 13 she gave up that world for another. To commemorate the release of her catalogue “Dreamed the Dream in the Dream 1957-1967” here she presents her first and last solo exhibition.
