Kunihiko Katsumata
The word used for photographic devices “camera” in fact refers to a room, the “camera obscura” being a dark room through which to view a scene of the outside world. Upon a certain trip to Italy in 2003 Katsumata came across a hotel room which was named “Camera”, and recalled the words of Naoya Hatakeyama which questioned what would to happen if a photographic device of a camera were to be placed within the room of the camera. Grasping hold of this idea Katsumata initiated this series of views taken from windows of rooms.
