Satoru Goi
Satoru Goi paints with the industrial product of silicone. This material is not well suited to the medium, and Goi must work within the limits of the silicone’s viscosity and solidifying speed. Furthermore, its permeability means that each part of the painting process remains in the finished work. The artist’s intention is to clearly demonstrate the complex elements of painting created through such simple actions over which control is limited. Goi also wishes to create works with the textural “lightness” of ready-made products such as rubber that pervade our modern lives.
