Marunouchi House launched “The Mother of Design” in 2008. For its eight session, this series exhibiting the work of much-discussed creators and transmitting the latest design news from the restaurant floor of the-Shin Marunouchi Building welcomes Tomoo Gokita, an artist working in Japan, New York, and Los Angeles. Gokita’s first solo exhibition since his 2014 show at the DIC Kawamura Memorial Museum presents not only his popular black and white portraits (including new works) and geometrical paintings, but also a giant balloon installation – new territory for the artist –as well as sculptures of his rarely exhibited in Japan. A special-edition cover for the Towa Tei album “Cute,” featuring an original drawing by Gokita, will also be on display and for sale.
