“Just Visiting” presents the work of Michele Ayoub, a Canadian director and artist selected as a Toronto International Film Festival finalist. Blending elements of documentary and fiction, Ayoub’s experimental works draw the viewer into surreal and nostalgic-inducing worlds. The three-day exhibition’s title refers to both a sense of visiting the world of memory, as well as the artist’s seven-month stay in Japan that began in the spring of 2015.
On September 14th there will be an opening party and movie night screening three new short films: “Darya”, “Taiga”, and “Peach”, plus classic avant-garde short films from the 1940s and 1950s chosen by Ayoub cannot be viewable online. Ayoub’s major works will be shown on September 15th and 16th, with the three TIFF finalist films making their premier in Japan. A collage by Ayoub will also be displayed, and a limited-edited Zine will be available for purchase.
