Artists

Hiroshi Yoshida
Hiroshi Yoshida was a painter who worked throughout the Meiji, Taisho and Showa periods, being closed associated with the institutional “Bunten” and “Teikoku” exhibitions and working across a variety of media including watercolors, oil paints and wood block prints. With a great affection and respect for nature he took it as his mission to stand between humankind and the natural world and reveal the unseen elements of this realm. This exhibition places a spotlight on the wood block printing of Yoshida which draws on the traditions of ukiyo-e and combines these with a style of western painting to form a unique realism.
