Icon of the Taisho Romantics, painter Yumeji Takehisa dreamed in his youth of becoming a poet. However, as this could not provide a livelihood he determined on the path of a painter, converting poems into pictures. In this way he created a myriad of poetic works of art, but never lost his aptitude for the pen either. This exhibition places a spotlight on both elements of his creative practice, in a combination of words and pictures which offer up a most relevant message.
