Issei Nishimura
The self-taught artist Issei Nishimura incorporates fragments of himself in daily paintings that serve as a unique kind of diary. In them he confronts human life, sexuality, satisfaction, and despair straight on, grasping at the essence of expression and never passing up a creative moment. Many of his new works include portraits that feature human-esque forms sharply distorted through his own bold movements, leaving colorful clots and contrasts on the canvas, as if coarse breathing can be heard from the deep recesses of these paintings.
