Artists

Hiroshi Abe
Hiroshi Abe is a picture book artist with a unique career, having spent 25 years as a zookeeper at the Asahiyama Zoo. His experience working with and looking after animals, sometimes at the risk of his own life, is reflected in his picture books. In this exhibition we are pleased to present Hiroshi Abe’s world of animals, a world filled with reality and humor featuring animals the artist met at the zoo, as well as the wild animals he encountered in Africa and the Arctic wilderness.
