The Story of Bonsai

Following the history of Bonsai trees through their appearance in ancient Chinese murals, painted scrolls of the Middle Ages, the garden illustrations of the Modern Age and the prints of Ukiyo-e. From the Bonsai lovers of Meiji politicians to the opening of Omiya Bonsai Village in the early Showa period, this exhibition traces the development and depiction of the Bonsai through different cultures and eras.
