Traces of a Dream – Selections from the Hara Museum Collection

Hara Museum ARC
Finished

Artists

Christian Boltanski, Jonathan Borofsky, Christo, Toeko Tatsuno, Tabaimo et al.
The word “dream” has two meanings: one refers to visions conjured up during sleep and the other an aspiration for a certain future.
Christo and Jeanne-Claude carried out large-scale projects around the world for more than half a century. Their dream was to take a given landscape and to change its appearance for a given length of time by “wrapping” it. Realizing their projects required vast amounts of time, money and labor. But as Christo said, in those works lie “beauty and joy” that a great many people are irresistibly drawn to. Jonathan Borofsky, on the other hand, is known for representing his personal dreams and memories. His work on display could very well be himself making an appearance or ourselves living in this era of the “now”. These two artists are among those featured in this exhibition of works from the Hara Museum Collection.
