Masaki Kobayashi
Famed for films such as “The Human Condition”, “Seppaku” and “Ghost Stories” Masaki Kobayashi(1916-1996) was one of the masters of Japanese film and this year marks 100 years since his birth and 20 years since his death. Whilst both a victim and perpetrator of war as a Japanese citizen, his work has gained even greater significance in these 70 years since the end of WWII and this exhibition unveils his diary for the first time along with other writings and correspondence.
