Aoien, Ryuta Arai, Miruku Ochiai, et al.
Established in 2014, this is the fourth consecutive year that WAG has run. “WAG” is the nickname given to Wako University’s Department of Art (Wako Geijutsu), while is was also the name of a renowned club in the 1980s-90s London music scene, and in Japanese language can be understood as playful term meaning to be truant, to be a trickster, or to shake one’s body about. It is such explanations that suit the nature and approach of the artists participating in this exhibition. These third year students at Wako University Department of Art go against the traditions of their forerunners and established trends. They are young but courageous, with the power and motivation to stray far from the trodden path in search for their own expression.

In this exhibition the work of nine artists will be presented. This is an opportunity to view their fresh yet sophisticated artwork, spanning painting, printmaking, installation and sculpture.
