Kunihiko Nohara
Kunihiko Nohara (b. 1982) uses woods such as camphor and zelkova to create artworks based on moments and experiences from his daily life. Unrestricted by conventional sculptural techniques, Nohara is an inventive artist who expresses physical sense and abstract representation using vivid colors in his artworks. Since participating in Art Fair Tokyo, he has attracted much attention from numerous exhibitions and art fairs both within Japan and overseas. In this exhibition presenting his latest works more than 200 items with be on display, comprising both three-dimensional and two-dimensional pieces that are collected domestically and abroad. A section titled “View by hand,” where audiences can touch the artworks, will be set up. Although most art institutions prohibit audiences from touching the artworks on show, it is only when you feel them with your hands that you can really sense the warmth and other details of the wood. Nohara’s “Bunk House” studio will also be set up so that visitors can see the process by which he produces his works.
