Kiyotaka Tsurisaki + Naoki Sasayama “Onces de la Noche”

Shiroto no ran Shop #12
Finished

Artists

Kiyotaka Tsurisaki, Naoki Sasayama, Miyuki Nishizawa
Kiyotaka Tsurisaki is a writer and filmmaker who has been photographing corpses at crime scenes and in conflict areas around the world since 1994. Naoki Sasayama is an artist who, as of 2004, has been producing watercolor paintings primarily on the main theme of accident sites. Together they launched a crowdfunding proposal in order to produce an exhibition on the theme “Mexican cadaver camp” that would introduce all the dead bodies they would encounter of a trip to Mexico to audiences back in Japan. This exhibition will present works created on this theme as well as videos, newspapers and other materials gathered during their stay. Miyuki Nishizawa will also join the exhibition as a guest artist and exhibit works produced using Mexican newspapers. Through the work of Tsurisaki and Sasayama you can get a sense of the ambivalence in their feelings of urgency and exhilaration while waiting for death and the chance to step foot on accident sites.
