Returning for the third year, the 2016 Lumine Meets Art Award exhibition features outstanding works by young artists chosen in a public contest that drew a total of 480 entries in the four categories of “Installation,” “Window Display,” “Elevator Display,” and “Video Art.” The award-winning works presented throughout the Shinjuku Lumine department store complex have been selected by front-runners in the contemporary art world, including gallerist Tomio Koyama, copywriter and creative director Mariko Ogata, and others active in the international art and design scene. You can see the works by the six winners in the exhibition spaces, the Lumine 1 Shinjuku elevators and windows, and the digital signboards located in Lumine Est Shinjuku and Lumine 2 Shinjuku. There will also be a video work by guest artist Kota Iguchi of Tymote/Cekai showing for the duration of the event. This can be seen on digital screens and signboards throughout Lumine Est Shinjuku and outside the East Entrance to Shinjuku Station.
