Exhibition presenting work by eight first year doctoral candidates at Joshibi University of Art & Design Graduate School. This is the eighth edition of Coil, a series of exhibitions organized outside of the university setting. Considering that there are eight students participating in this eighth installment, some thought has been given the to the figure 8. Rather than reading it simply as a number, however, the participants have seen it as a form and one that represents ∞, a symbol denoting mobius theory. Taking this as their starting point, students have explored infinity and it’s various meanings in their work. This exhibition will spread across three galleries.
