Hitomi Watanabe
Hitomi Watanabe was the only woman photographer permitted inside the barricade during the Tokyo University student protests. She continued to photograph the conflict from January through September of 1969. Her photographs show not only the struggle but also offer glimpses of the lives of the students inside the barricade. Fifty years after the start of the protests, this exhibition is a chance to reconsider the event.
