In the last few years, Shigeru Nishikawa’s work has focused on paintings of buildings covered by sheets that mark them as under construction or demolition. These sheets appear suddenly, giving their surroundings unique touches of atmosphere and color. This time Nishikawa confronts Hong Kong and Tokyo’s continually evolving “progressive urban landscape” in these dense oil paintings that show his fine eye for observations of time and space.
