Artists

Naoki Yamamoto
The theme of the work for this exhibition is “reviving Taro Okamoto”. This is achieved in four steps. The first is to project a portrait of Okamoto onto paper using light. Second, is to outline Okamoto’s portrait using burning incense. The burns are left behind on the paper. Third, is to place the portrait on a plate of glass, spread sugar, and remove the paper to create a negative image of the portrait. Finally, the sugar is gathered and tasted as a way to remember and revive the memory of Taro Okamoto.
