The History of Omiya Bonsai Village

The Omiya Bonsai Art Museum, Saitama
Finished
Omiya Bonsai Village was created following the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake. Its history begins with the move of Ritaro Shimizu’s Seidaien bonsai garden in Tokyo to Omiya in April of 1925. 90 years after Shimizu moved his garden, the 8th World Bonsai Convention was held at the Omiya Bonsai Village in April of 2017. Bonsai artists from over 40 countries and regions gathered in Saitama, Japan. This exhibition showcases the history of Omiya Bonsai Village through documents and photos.
