Japanese Quilts x Hyakudan Kaidan 2018

Hotel Gajoen Tokyo
Finished
Patchwork quilts originated in Europe but came into their own in America. In Japan, craft art has over 3,000,000 enthusiasts, mostly women who are drawn to the warmth of the material and the satisfaction of creating with needle and thread. Over 30,000 people visited the previous exhibition featuring various craftwork and paintings involved with Gajoen since its founding. These uniquely Japanese works were then exhibited at various international quilt festivals held in places such as Houston in the US and Italy. The theme of this third exhibition is “Japanese-Modern” and will feature over 380 pieces by 79 artists including new work by renown artists.
