The Origins of Japanese Printed Books

Musashino Art University Museum & Library
Finished
This exhibition rediscovers the world of woodblock printed books published in Japan’s early modern period from the perspective of art and design. At the same time, by considering all the elements involved in book-making- the shape of kanji, hiragana, and katakana, the paper, and the printing and binding processes-it introduces the multifaceted world of the Japanese-style printed books.
