Artists

Masahiro Masuda
According to Masuda, it seemed the fictional world existed in a multilayered manner within the real world when he watched science fiction and horror films with his parents in early childhood. These experiences, interests, or sensibilities are the foundation and form the basis of the concept for his latest work. Masuda photographs a common scene, projects the image in the same place, and shoots again with same viewpoint. Repeating this process over and over, he finally overprints the image on canvas with silkscreen and acrylic paints. Depicting the reality and fictitiousness Masuda experienced in his childhood on the canvas, he attempts to create the overlapping of several moments and visualize time. One of the exhibited works overprints the gallery space in this manner. Viewers may have a strange feeling as to whether they are in the real world or virtual world when they stand in front of the work that reflects the same gallery space.
