Artists

Korehiko Hino
Born in Wajima, Ishikawa Prefecture in 1976 and completing the Master Course in Painting at the University of Tsukuba in 2001, Korehiko Hino became known for his unique portraits after receiving the VOCA prize in 2005. Hino works in a variety of genres and mediums including landscape paintings, drawings, watercolor, drawings with colored pencils, and objects like bronze statues. His work is remarkable for the absence of characteristics or features such as expressions, a distinct pose, or clothing, that allow for an understanding of the subjects’ personalities. The title of the exhibition “Outward” points to the change in presence as the figures portrayed in the paintings present themselves to the outside world.
