Artists

Lili Reynaud-Dewar
Lili Reynaud-Dewar assembles pseudo “theaters” of her friends, family, and students in an ongoing series indirectly exploring the role of the artist as it is concerned with figures central to myths and identity conflicts. Her performances unfold as fictions, formations, and symbols that blur lines between the artwork and the body of the artist and awareness brought about by human experience and media and antagonistic forces.

“My Epidemic (a body as public as a book can be)” continues the series “All The World’s Futures,” presented at the 2015 Venice Biennale. In the beginning of her autobiography, Reynaud-Dewar discusses the influence of AIDS, as a disease spread through blood and semen, on individual bodies and society. Her work takes over the space with installation art, dance, readings, and other approaches while referencing the writings of Jean Genet, Marguerite Donnadieu, and Tiqqun to spark discussions framed around collective and political actions and identity.
